These birds will probably appear familiar to anyone who has walked into a pet store. The budgie, also known as the Budgerigar or common parakeet, are known for their black stripes and brilliant colors, and are gentle and docile birds. They are also very easy to tame, especially if acquired at a young age. Pairs of birds make good company for each other, but when in living pairs and entertaining one another, they may not bond as well with their owners or mimic speech as fluently. These birds are often thought of as a “beginner bird,” however this social, outgoing little bird deserves just as much care and attention as larger parrots. Budgies are playful, love food and they can rival any parrot in terms of talking ability.
